22.07.10 - Tarp surfing

A few days ago I receive an email from a mate on Facebook "check this out, we need to do this!!" with a youtube link attached.

When I thought I'd seen just about all the surfing simulations (tree barrels, fountain surfing, rock wave formations etc etc) I click on the link and what opens up makes me laugh. It's done well. A group of guys turning everyday tarps into epic deep barrels and surfing them on a skateboard. It looks like so much fun.

Three days later and I've already seen the same youtube clip 4 different times!

This thing's going viral.

I can already see the underground tarp surfing groups now. The words "the second rule of tarp club is..." ringing through the streets of Frankston at 2am. Guys going to huge lengths to sew metres of tarps together and surf the biggest tarp waves ever. Obstacles being thrown in to create difficulty. Heavy locals at popular tarp surfing locations. Bodyboarders throwing soap all over tarps and gut sliding there way through these perfect car park kegs.

Then again it could just be a fad and my imagination could be running away from me... Check it our for yourself.
